Preparation of the substrate: The substrate must be mechanically strong, dry and free from crumbling parts, grease, oil, paint and wax. Generally, cementitious substrates used for laying ceramic must not be subject to shrinkage once the tiles have been laid. Since Ultraflex S2 Quick is particularly flexible, it is able to compensate for micro-cracks which form in the screed if it is not sufficiently cured. Meaning that standard sand/cement screeds can be tiled over with ceramic or porcelain tiles and mosaics once the screed is foot trafficable without leaving indentations. Gypsum substrates and anhydrite screeds must be perfectly dry, sufficiently hard, free from dust and, in all cases, treated with Primer G or Eco Prim T Plus.
Mixing: Blend 15kg of the powder with 5.1-5.4l of clean water until a smooth, lump-free paste is obtained. Leave the mix standing for 5 minutes, then re-mix. The mix prepared as above lasts approximately 30 minutes.
Applying the product: Apply with a notched trowel. Use a trowel which guarantees perfect buttering of the back of the tile. To obtain a good bond, spread a thin layer on the substrage using the smooth side of the trowel, then immediately spread a further layer to the thickness required using the notched side. When laying floors, tiles in wet areas and on external surfaces, spread the adhesive on the back of the tile to guarantee total buttering.
